Database Architect

PENNEP is seeking a talented and dedicated Configuration Management Database (CMDB) Architect to join our client’s dynamic team. DIT’s IT Service Excellence (ITSE) Team is seeking an organized and self-directed Configuration Management Database (CMDB) Architect with extensive experience in IT Service Management (ITSM). The CMDB Architect will assist with ITSE Team and the NC Department of Information Technology (DIT) in the establishment and maintenance of the CMDB. This position is contract based and the term is open and the hours may be flexible within a standard business day. The position is in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. This role is responsible for managing the creation of the CMDB in conjunction with the Configuration Management process. The CMDB Architect will plan, design and implement the CMDB taxonomy, processes, policies, procedures, and technology. This role will be involved integrating the CMDB into the many different aspects of the ITSE Team and DIT Services.

• Understanding of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) IT Service Management lifecycle
• Able to work both independently as well as collaboratively with minimal supervision.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments.
• Position requires interpersonal skills project management, business and systems analysis, process management and re-engineering.
• Ability to script in Java and Python
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong Understanding of ServiceNow ITSM platform and Discovery
• Strong knowledge of IT Asset and CMDB processes and procedures
• Experience with Service and Application Modeling
• Experienced with Visio and process mapping methodologies.
• Experienced with the Agile software development lifecycle changes that are required.
• Oversee, coordinate, and lead the planning, design and implementation of a central CMDB for DIT Services
• Develop the logical and physical data models for the CMDB.
• Identify, verify, and architect the federation of data that will comprise the CMDB including external sources.
• Contribute, coach, and support the ITSE and IT Service Management teams on CMDB configuration, maintenance, and operation.
• Develop a range of documentation that describes the data model, the federation of data from external sources, the management and maintenance of the CMDB and the relevant roles and responsibilities of program personnel.
• Prepare and deliver project status briefings, employee awareness presentations and training materials for personnel with direct CMDB responsibilities as well as DIT stakeholders.
• Execute, integrate, and maintain the Configuration Management plans and processes for conducting program-specific Configuration Management training activities and initial physical configuration audits.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• 3 Years of Understanding of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) IT Service Management
• 3 Years of Ability to script in Java and Python
• 3 Years of Experience with Service and Application Modeling
• 3 Years of Strong Understanding of ServiceNow ITSM platform and Discovery
• 3 Years of Strong knowledge of IT Asset and CMDB processes and procedures
• 3 Years of Experienced with Visio and process mapping methodologies
• 3 Years of Experienced with the Agile software development lifecycle
• 3 Years of SAMPRO and HAMPRO activation.
• ITIL V3 Foundations Certification or higher.

• ServiceNow certifications are highly desired.
